Healthcare

Epic® go-lives, at the bedside.

Heliqa helps health systems get Epic® go-lives right where care happens: the workstations, devices, and clinical workflows. The work is led by Kevin Crawford, who has 13+ years of Epic implementation experience and started his career in the emergency department.

Where go-lives break

Go-lives rarely fail in the build. They fail at the workstation: the printer that won't map, the scanner nobody ordered, the anesthesia machine whose vitals don't reach the flowsheet. Heliqa focuses on that technical last mile and on testing workflows the way clinicians actually work.

Services

  • Technical Dress Rehearsal (TDR) leadership & go-live readiness

Plan, staff, and run TDR end to end, including tester scheduling and training, workstation and printer records, and pass/fail tracking until every workstation passes.

  • Biomedical device integration

Connect physiological monitors, ventilators, anesthesia delivery units, and other bedside devices to Epic through Capsule middleware, from walkthroughs and connectivity design through build, testing, go-live, and training.

  • Hardware gap analysis & end-user device readiness

Re-walk departments against Epic workflows to find missing scanners, label and paper printers, signature pads, single sign-on devices, touchscreens, mounts, and trackboards, then support deployment and testing.

  • Epic application build & optimization

Hands-on ASAP (ED), Anesthesia/OpTime, and Ambulatory build and testing, upgrade regression testing, and Gold Star optimization.

  • Third-party application & integration project management

Coordinate vendors, Epic application teams, cybersecurity, data migration, training, and the PMO, with weekly status reporting to the CIO, including during a Cerner-to-Epic conversion.

  • Change management, acquisition integration & go-live support

Change control for moving build safely between environments, integrating acquired hospitals into an existing Epic instance, and on-site or command-center go-live support.

Selected experience

  • Multi-hospital system acquisition: TDR project manager and lead. Oversaw 20+ testers and imported 5,000+ existing workstations.
  • Hospital acquisition: Epic TDR project manager. Helped oversee a 10-person TDR/deployment team and built 1,000+ workstation and printer records.
  • Large pediatric academic medical center: Epic senior consultant, OpTime/Anesthesia. Updated 10,000 surgical procedure records for accurate charging and helped raise the Anesthesia Gold Star level from 4 to 6.
  • Multi-hospital regional health system: initial Epic rollout to six hospitals, with build for 10 hospital locations, including ED navigators and narrators for 10 emergency departments, and device integration lead for 1,500 connected devices.
  • Academic medical center: device integration and change management lead for an Epic/Capsule implementation of 1,000 connected devices.
